Mediation

  • Mediation is a voluntary out of court procedure to settle conflicts.
  • The mediator is neutral and without the authority to decide; he/she supports the conflicting parties in developing legally binding solutions.
  • Mediation makes individual solutions possible. The objective not only to settle the current conflict but also to maintain the chances for future cooperation between the parties.
  • The mediator does his/her best to enable the conflict partners to meet as partners and not as opponents in finding a solution.
  • Mediation is normally faster and cheaper than a court proceedings and solutions found by the parties with the assistance of the mediator are typically more sustainable than a court decision because the solution is prepared by the parties and they are responsible for them.
  • Mediation is suitable in various areas, for example for labour disputes, for famliy conflicts (divorce, separation), for inheritance conflicts and disputes between neighbors. Mediation may be applied before, during or after a court proceedings.
